I was in Lampasas last week driving down the main drag and saw a restaurant with a sign that said, "Hunger Pain Specialist". That intrigue me so I decide before I left town I was going to give it a try.

We arrived pretty early for this Sunday noon meal. We not only beat the Baptist we beat the Methodist and everyone in a small town knows the Methodist always get to the local eatery first. Since we were being heathens on this particular Sunday, we beat them all.

The first thing that we noticed was a buffet line. This is not an "All you can eat" buffet but a pay for what you eat line. The prices were fair and if you didn't eat much you didn't pay much and if you ate a lot you paid more. Not a bad idea because when it is all you can eat and see the local High School Football team come in a line up I always feel I'm buying their lunch. I know this is true because when my son played High School Football he and the whole offense line went into all you can eat pizza place and two hours later the owner kick the whole bunch of the out and they were just getting started. He probably raised his price the next day.

They also have a full menu you can order from. It is a pretty typical menu for place like this. You won't find any tofu or vegetarian burgers but you will find everything you saw on the buffet plus sandwiches and burgers.

Clara went to the all you can afford buffet and I ordered a cheese burger off the menu. It came with fries.

Clara had fried catfish hush puppies mash potatoes with gravy, corn and a small salad. The portions were large. The food was good, hot and flavorful. It was a good meal unless you are concerned about cholesterol or calories.

I think I ordered a cheese burger because this place is right next to a "Storm's Restaurant" which a small central Texas chain that specializes in burgers. I've never eaten at this Storm's but I have at the one in Burnet, Texas and it is go-ood. Anyway, I had my mouth set for a cheese burger and that is what I got. It was very good. Was it as good as the burgers at Storm's? I'm not sure but it was pretty good.

Did I mention that it is also a Bakery? I didn't get to try any of the baked goods but I have it on good authority that they have "Best Italian Crème Cheese Cake on the planet".
