Our Camp Hearne event is in October. It will explore a day in the life of an American GI, an enemy POW and a rural home-front community during World War II. G-Company (WWII re-enactors) will bring to life the American GI through their authentic uniforms and gear with various demonstrations for the public. Camp Lili, a collection of Signal Corps field equipment, will enlighten the public to the technical hitches of 1940's communication; as well as, old school improvisations, such as messenger pigeons used during the D-Day invasion. Demonstrations will start at 11am.
Our local American Legion will host a special program to honor our area WWII veterans to start the day. All veterans will be recognized for the service.
Be sure to visit the Camp Hearne Exhibit and our new 14 panel hypothesis - How Texans Won WW-II on display in the visitor's center.
Come spend the day or stay as long as you like. |
