Texas Almanac 2012 - 2013
by Elizabeth Cruce Alvarez and Robert Plocheck
My copies of the Texas Almanac are the most important books I own
about Texas. They are packed full of information about all 254
counties. It covers all things Texas; population information,
history, political, sports, weather and more.
Did I say copies? Yes, I have Texas Almanacs from way back but
I always have two copies of the most current edition. My hardbound
copy of the Texas Almanac sits on my desk right next to my Bible and
Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine, all there for quick reference.
My softbound copy of the Texas Almanac is kept in my RV. I use it
as I travel around Texas.
You might be thinking, “Why do I need a bound copy of the Texas
Almanac when I can get all of this on the Internet?”
It is true that the folks that publish the Texas Almanac have a great
webpage, but
even though I’m as technologically addicted as anyone, it is just not
the same. Also, when you’re traveling around the great state of
Texas and you think you’re going to get all this information on your
smart phone, then you’re not traveling far enough. If you haven’t
been to places in Texas where the cell towers are far and few between
then you have not really seen Texas.
The Texas Almanac - “The source for all things Texas since 1857".
